COE Drabble: tw_100 Lost challange - rabecka
COE Drabble: tw_100 Lost challange
Title: Reality Check
Characters: OC's, Colonel Oduya (UNIT)
Challenge tw_100: reverse fandom Lost (Episode: Numbers)
Rating: G
Spoilers: COE Day 1
Beta: Thanks mellten

"It was awful, Rhi. I managed to grab Sian, but couldn't reach Dafydd in time. He just went flying off the swing. The medics said they've been getting calls from all over Cardiff."

"Not just Cardiff, love. I was online, and everyone's talking about it, all over the world. Twitter's flooded with messages, and there are even vids on YouTube. Nothing on the telly, though. It's odd, that"

"...and if anyone files a news report, we'll be crushing it. But, so far, we're the only ones with software clever enough to piece this all together. Well, us and Torchwood."

AN: Really not trying to open another debate about COE. These were just two things that occurred to me while watching Day 1. (1) The 456 might have stopped the children, but I doubt they were able to stop momentum. Think of kids running, on a bike or skateboard, swimming, etc. Or don't, maybe...  (2) The "clever software" scene had my mouth hanging open. Really??? Raise your hand if you think that kids stopping would be the hot topic on twitter before either UNIT OR Torchwood caught on...

How interesting! I like that you made the situation feel very immediate by using dialogue.

Thanks - love getting a comment from a master of the drabble. I rarely write, so it's nice to know what works.

There were a lot of things in that mini-series that didn't make sense/covered with large gaping holes.
I loved the use of just dialogue.

Thanks, and yeah, via the holes. I just thought the "clever software" scene was rather hysterical when I watched it.

Clever concept and very good execution.

Thanks. I've been wanting to play with that "clever software" scene for awhile...

Thanks. I thought that "clever software" scene was hysterical when I saw it. The momentum problem dawned on me later. The opportunity to nail them both in 100 words was too good to pass up...

I wondered about that at the time. Maybe their knowledge of the net and other technologies was frozen in the 1990's?

YES! That was EXACTLY my reaction. When I finished laughing...

This is very interesting. There had to have been some speculation.
